Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere…

I am loving Olek‘s new knitted art piece on the Great Eastern Road, proclaiming the Martin Luther King quote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere“. It fits so perfectly there with the permanent statement, “Let’s adore and endure each other.”

The piece is part of an event in conjunction with Street Artists Against Slavery and Village Underground. There will be an event tomorrow night at Village Underground in Shoreditch called ‘Follow Your Art’, which looks like it’s going to be very well attended (in fact, it seems to be impossible to get a ticket now, so I’m hoping there’ll be lots of photos). For more information please visit Village Underground and antislavery.org.

Here’s a video which shows Olek putting the piece up on 29th September: Olek in London.

Luckily she also happened to be around when I wandered by yesterday, so I had the chance to shake her pink paint covered hand and tell her how much I admire her work. You can see more of Olek’s work on her website, and also over at AliMuskett.com where I reviewed her exhibition at Tony’s Gallery earlier this year.
