Henry’s chair leg

Whilst in Cambridge the other day my friend pointed up at a statue of Henry VIII on Trinity College and asked if I knew what he was holding in his right hand.

She explained that it was a chair leg (in place of a sceptre he used to hold), and that it had been placed there as a prank many years ago.

Apparently there is a secret society in Cambridge (known as ‘night climbers‘) who like to scale the university buildings around the city and place random objects up high just to baffle people. These students clearly have too much free time! 😉
