Picturing England on hiatus…

Hello you lovely people. You may have noticed that Picturing England has been pretty quiet recently. A lot of things have been vying for my time, and Picturing England has unfortunately lost out. However, it’s not over, and I am still taking lots of pictures to share with you!

First of all, I will be back in January with more regular posts. Promise.

Secondly, if you need a fix in the meantime, follow me on Instagram (ali_haikugirl). I post there quite a bit, and it’s not all food.

And finally, if you’re interested in all the other things I’m doing between now and Christmas (namely, exploring the hell out of Japan), follow me over at Haikugirl’s Japan.

Oh, and one more things, I finally got around to uploading my photos from Upfest back in July. Here they are…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Close Up

This week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is on the theme of ‘Close Up‘. I had this in mind as I was wandering about exploring in the rain today, and then I spotted this. Nature at its most beautiful – naturally decorating the leaves.

Click through to the image on Flickr and you can zoom in even further. Look at the middle of the leaf – wow!

Good-looking Gorilla

Recently there was a story in the news about a good-looking gorilla called Shabani which has been capturing the hearts of everyone in Japan. I discovered yesterday that Bristol Zoo Gardens has its very own gorgeous gorilla…

The Man in the Mirror

If fish could sing, I reckon this sandy little dude would have been humming a bit of Michael Jackson…

Bristol Aquarium

It’s simple, but I was really pleased with this photo.

Wells next the Sea

The other week I went to visit a friend in Norwich and she took me to Wells-next-the-Sea. It was such a beautiful beach, and a really good place to walk, talk and think.

Taking off…

I don’t know much about birds, but I thought this bird I spotted on the coast in Plymouth the other week was pretty cool…
